Both posts are correct. The seller probably got a REGISTERABLE unit and the person reporting it here is WRONG.

I'd like to see a link where anyone is selling UNREGISTERABLE Paperwhites anywhere.

Ebay buyers can RETURN any stolen unit to the seller and PayPal would IMMEDIATELY freeze the funds of the seller. Once I purchased an item through eBay which got delayed in transit. I called PayPal and they froze the entire account of the seller. The seller was very upset but he could do nothing about it. Not only were my funds in his account frozen, but ALL HIS funds were frozen. That is the way it works.
