I don't think they ever numbered the Kindles. There was the Kindle, the International Kindle (when they had two chips), the DX and DXG, and then the Paperwhite.
Users refered to them as K1, K2, K3 (KK), K4 PW1, PW2. I cannot recall seeing Amazon using those terms. Whatever was currently being sold was the Kindle and then they had WiFi, 3G, SO or no SO. That was it.
