Same thing happened to me but with a podcast app called instacast I paid for it it was an amazing app in truth then one day they updated to a version with all the good stuff gone and wanting people to buy IAP packs to get the same features back but in a worse form.
Was one of the contributing things to me dumping the iPhone well that and hating iTunes.
