I have a PW2 because I couldn't wait. The first part of the poll is contradictory. The font can be less black but still have more contrast, which is actually the case with my PW2. It has slightly less dark font as compared to the PW1, but much brighter white (the background) making the contrast better than the PW1.
You can't really lump blacker with more contrast, it doesn't work that way. Contrast is the ratio of white to black, which can be achieved with either blacker blacks, whiter whites or both.
