The Daily Deal books sometimes offer an even bigger discount on the Whispersync audiobook, but only if the audiobook is purchased while the daily deal is on. I've bought about 4 audiobooks that were priced at 99 cents when the Kindle book was a Daily Deal. The discount price went back to 1.99 or 3.99 the following day.
Another quirk I've noticed is that the Audible price listed on the book's Amazon webpage can be lower than the "regular" price on the Audible website. For example, the Audible edition of Three Parts Dead is 19.95 on the Amazon webpage, but the regular price on Audible.com is 23.07.
I transfer my Audible audiobooks to my Sansa mp3 players using Audible Manager.
