Home-made sleep cover for my Aura
So I didn't really like the official cover, and there aren't a lot of third party ones out there yet. I ended up just making my own. Now it's not as neat as it should be, and I'll probably be re-working parts of it, but I am rather happy with it.
I put a magnet in the right spot to get the Aura to sleep when it's closed, and there's a built in stand for propping the reader up when I'm sitting at a table. It also folds fully back for easy one handed reading.
I made the cover out of a book (went to B&N and looked through the clearance until I found something that both fit, and that I wouldn't mind cutting up). Took it apart completely, glued the page block into three sections, cut out the casing. Reinforced it with nails, and added a plastic cover to the page block. Then re-bound the covers with leather, added magnets to keep it closed. Attached the whole thing back together.
Stand was made out of a piece of aluminum that I cut and then sanded the rough edges off. Everything is wrapped in either leather or book-cloth. There's also a fake bookmark sticking out of the bottom, primarily to let me know which way is up.
Total time taken, about three days, two to three hours a day, and keeping it under a press overnight for the glue to set.
