It isn't so much the angst but how dark or too sexy most paranormals are. I cut my teeth on Lynsay Sands vampires novels but even though now days her newest have lost more and more of its humor and charm.
I can name the authors on one hand that write lighthearted paranormals
- Lynsay Sands
- Molly Harper
- Ashlyn Chase
- Jessica Sims
- Sandra Hill
These sorta fall into the category but not quite.
Vicki Lewis Thompson: Her werewolves series contains humor and would be somewhat on the lighthearted side.
Shelly Laurenston: her books contain humor but she can be a bit too sexy and not lighthearted enough.
Erin McCarthy: She has a vampire series but she doesn't write for the genre.
We need more of these types of books. Authors can have fun with the supernatural, it doesn't need to be dark and serious all the time.
