There are 2 points:
1) Start a new thread, specially if a major release has past since last post in the thread.

2) Confusion reigns when a interface or feature set changes from start version to current version

Since Calibre has made a major release (number) every year. #1 should decide: New thread

IMHO #2 can lead to monster threads the New users rarely wade through, and those that do see conflicting (version related) information

Calibre has changed, Lots.
Plugins have now been created to remedy tasks like that above

And I can almost guarantee that there will be MORE changes and plugins to come
