I don't know what you mean by opds?
If you want your unread books to show as 'unread' just click your new 'read' column, it will sort your books after the once with the green hook and the books without. Select all without and select 'Edit metadata', choose 'custom metadata' and set your 'read' column on 'No' (eventually you have to click 'Apply changes' for this column too). Now you will see a red X in your 'read' column for all not read books.

I always make my read and unread changes only over this column, my reading list I use only for what I want to read next from my fanfiction.
