That's pretty bad.
I wonder if, in an attempt to improve light diffusion, they have changed the substratum to something that looks more washed-out.
More likely, it is another quality-control issue.
For some reason, all ereaders I have owned, regardless of brand, seemed to suffer from huge within-model variation. Something about the manufacturing process has not been ironed out...
