The Kindle Paperwhite 1 also has a "scratchy" screen. It is not as smooth as the touchscreen of a phone or tablet. It's just how these screens are. You can't clean that off. Don't forget the iPhone, and most other smartphones and tablets have a glass pane in front of the actual screen, which e-Ink readers don't have. If they had, they would have a lot of glare in a lot more situations than they do now.

I'm still quite satisfied with my KPW1, and even if I get another reader at some point in time, I think the KPW1 will just stay along.
