I don't know if you can check out books from Openlibrary.org, but it looks like there is an ebook copy that *says* copy write 1980. I did a search for "The Stand" not Stephen King, by the way. Now, I don't know for sure if that means it's the old version or not, and I can't check it out right now because it is checked out, but it's the only place I've seen the original in ebook.
