Yes, my PW 2013 is better than my PW 2012 due to better contrast but both are great eReaders. When I use them, I only concentrate on the eBooks I am READING. I don't take 3 hours to closely examine the cosmetics.
The only key problem I would note would be MECHANICAL failures like freezes which this poll did not even address.
Actually the freeze that you experienced is very likely a software issue and not a mechanical failure. Whereas screen defects such as pinholes and light bleed are more mechanical in nature being the result of issues with the manufacturing process or the hardware assembly, component tolerances, etc. They do exist on some devices but whether or not they bother you is a matter of perception, lighting and other variables.
