That will be true for any books that have DRM. The copy is authorized for the specific device.

THEN I had to remove the old device and establish the new one with since there is a limit to how many devices can access my books (and I also use my iPhone and iPad, so I couldn't keep those and both Kindles).
This shouldn't be the case. Most books can be on at least 5 or 6 devices at the same time, but an account can have as many devices registered to it as you want (Kindle's and apps combined I think I have 10 or 12 right now).

After that I had to change the email address associated with the new Kindle.
This is of course true if you want to use the same address you were using with the old device.

I am considering going to a PW 2. Am I missing something that others know about that will automate this process or which will greatly reduce the time involved?
I think the main thing for a lot of users here is that many of them remove DRM and therefore can just copy their books to a new device without going through Manage Your Kindle to get a copy encrypted for the device.
