I preordered a kindle paperwhite. Love it, at least so far.
I had the nook 1st edition and the simple touch. I wanted a ereader with a lit screen. I thought about a glowlight, but my touch had a few annoyances that I just couldn't get over.
1. I sideload my books and about once a week my nook would lose my place in the book. I would then have to search back through it to find where I was. This happened mostly when I connected it to a computer, even just to charge.
2. Can't display a nested table of contents.
3. About once a month the page turn button would get stuck and turn a couple of dozen pages before I could get it stopped. I couldn't make it do it, so I never tried to get a replacement.
4. The biggest was that B&N didn't seem to care enough to release updates to fix 1 & 2 or add new features.
B&N has a very good line of ereaders, but they don't update them.
Every year Amazon brings out a new ereader and backports a least a portion of the new features to its older readers.
I'm sure I'll find annoyances with the kindle, but at least Amazon still supports them.
And B&N wonders why their ebook business is failing...
I thought about a Kobo, but there isn't anywhere close to me where I can try one out in person.
So, yeah I'm kinda sad. I like rooting for the underdog, but sometimes, they're the underdog for a reason.
