66 is no age at all, so this really is very sad. He leaves a legacy of great thrillers and will undoubtedly be remembered for generations.

His first two books are undoubtedly his best and probably among the very best in the genre, in my opinion. His
Jack Ryan series is also excellent, up to and including
Red Rabbit in 2002. After that, with the introduction of Jack Ryan Jr., the writing takes a marked turn for the worse. His
OP-Center,
Net Force and other co-authored series/books are really not worth the money or effort, being wholly unremarkable. I haven't checked out his last two novels (
Locked On and
Threat Vector), but I couldn't make it through the previous two (
Dead or Alive and
Against All Enemies) so I'll probably not bother.
