The price is probably going to be $2000+ if you keep it in line with prices of its previous generation, the 2710p and its main competitor's the Lenovo X200t and Dell XT.

The thing is that if you don't need the performance of the new model, you can get some really good deals on the 2710p as retailers and HP are slowly clearing out stock.

A closer comparison in price would be HP's TX series of tablets. While heavier, you can easily get them for around the same price of the Digital reader, i.e. $600-900 depending on the configuration.
