Ctrl-A in the:
spreadsheet selects all Books,
Inside a field (eg inside the comments. All comments) area of the Metadata editor,

In Windows and Ubuntu: the (OS) standard keyboard selection shortcuts usually work

Maybe MAC's don't allow keyboard shortcuts
