It's all too easy to put it in a bag with another heavy object. It presses into the screen, and causes a tiny fracture. A month later, there's a temperature change (or any number of other causes) and that tiny fracture spreads right across the screen.
It can and does happen. The user says "I didn't do anything - it just broke!"
Accidents happen. That's why we have insurance policies. Don't know if things are different where you live, but in the UK, that kind of thing is generally covered by our home contents insurance.
