I think this is the exact issue I am having on my new aura (non-hd) Although I do not think wifi is connected at all in my case
I had some books that I converted from mobi (I moved from a kindle) and it seems they were converted to kepubs for some reason. I just removed all books from the device reconverted in calibre using the default output profile (rather than kobo) and sent them back to the device.
So far so good.....
