Umm no that is not why most women read romance. Maybe erotica but not romance.

Romance doesn't always have sex in it. It's a story about two people falling in love and most of the time having to over come obstacles to be together. I think we read romance because we want to believe in the power of Happily Ever After and we like reading how couples fall in love because we do receive a emotional high off it sometimes especially the really good stories. Kind of like when you first fall in love. The rush and emotional high you can get that from reading romance. It's a happy feeling like for one moment all is right in the world.

Reading romance is my escapism from all that is wrong in the world.
