One of the fun things about Vancouver was watching the street people read, sometimes in libraries and sometimes on the streets. It's not something that I thought that segment of society would do. But they do, and some of them are fairly well educated regardless of their circumstances.
I kind of knew street people read and miners and loggers etc. I worked in a few Vancouver skid row bars when I was much younger. My stupid assumptions were about low level service workers and those with very poor verbal skills.

I have been even more surprised by the number of people in executive and government positions who only read when paid to do it.

Luckily for me, other than initial moments of surprise I don't care who reads and who doesn't. I either like them or I don't and their are very few people I don't like to some degree or other.
