Is this the right way to report a deleted thread? Or should I PM a mod?

On Saturday night Japan time, I posted a thread in the Reading Recommendations forum, "Seeking old book --- only a foggy memory", asking for help to find the title / author of an old book.

The thread is gone. Not moved or closed, but deleted. Was that forum the incorrect place to post? Is it ok to post the thread again?
