As a general, all-around companion, it's too large and heavy. As a media consumption device, it's a little immobile, so why not watch movies on a proper TV. For work, it still lacks a physical keyboard, so you'd need a bluetooth one, which then raises the question why not just get a ultrabook? For gaming, it's too big (can't hold in one hand) or too small (might as well play on a TV).

As an e-book reader, it's neither mobile nor light enough, and while I find reading on a 7" backlit device manageable and even comfortable, I think a 12" one would blind me (might as well read on the laptop).

So, it's mostly just good for PDFs and comics? And for people whose computing needs don't exceed what a tablet offers?
I too fail to see where this really fits in. The ten-inch tablets are already pushing the edge of what I'd consider "portable". After a few years of having to lug a laptop and all the kit about, I prefer to travel lighter. I do speculate if it's the U.S. market that's driving this. Unlike Europeans and Asians, USers drive everywhere. a "portable" device really only needs to be portable enough to carry to and from the car.
