Of course not. Version 3 of the knock-off is actually so close to the original that its hard to see the difference if the black ones are side by side. The colored ones have a difference: the Amazon cover has a colored rim, while the rim of the copy is black. Because of that, some people actually prefer the copies, because they can get a colored cover and still keep the rim around the Kindle black.
I wouldn't even look surprised if we found out somehow that Version 3 (+/- €15-20 depending on the seller) is actually manufactured on the same line as the official Amazon cover (€35).

Your suggestion of sticking a copy/print of a passage in there was a nice one. Now put it in upside down, and written backward, and then read in public transport. Watch the people looking at the back of your e-reader
