FWIW - to downgrade IE you probably have to use Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features->Turn Windows features on or off

I don't have Win8 in front of me, but from memory Win 8 is 'more or less' the same as Win7 - although that may have changed in 8.1.
