The "on at a low level and reduce" mode might be a good way to achieve a minimum brightness level. Probably would require letting the user pick a minimum level if there is that much variance between units. I would like to see an inverted mode automatically set to refresh after each page and reset when switched back, it's bad enough that way. It'd be really great if they could change the driver waveform to compensate since they're trying for black rather than white text too.
