In the .kobo directory on the internal storage, there is a directory Kobo. In that directory, there is a file called Kobo eReader.conf.

Open that file with a text editor (my preference is Notepad++) and look for a header [FeatureSettings]. If you see that header, add a line under it reading
Screenshots=true. If you don't see [FeatureSettings} add both lines:

[FeatureSettings]
Screenshots=true

Using the power button will now take a snapshot of the screen. The disadvantage being that you can't use the power button to put your Kobo to sleep or to turn it off. The screenshots will be saved in .png format in the root of the internal drive.

Regards,
David
