Oh, they do detect it. I've been taking pictures and working with calibrated high-quality screens for close to a decade now. I can see the shadows you outline quite clearly, and I can see any color shift in an area that was supposed to be neutral.
What I meant was: my KPW doesn't have them. If it had, I would see them. It also has no color shifts; it only has the 4 shadowy blobs on the bottom that they all have.

I can assure you of that quite clearly. Before 2004, I had no problem with any monitor. Now, if my monitor is not calibrated, I go crazy as I can see any color shifting. I actually take my calibrator to work and obtain permission to install it. My colleagues at some point invariably realize that their monitors are either purple, blue, green, yellow, or orange, when compared to mine
OK... I'm playing this a bit "falsch" (as Gollum would say it). Everybody knows my eyesight is bad, so if I want something changed, the only thing I need to say is: "It's required because of my eyesight problems", and nobody asks any questions anymore if I want to change anything to a weird setting
