It never hurts to back up but doing a simple uninstall via the control panel and then re-install a slightly older version you will not lose anything.

Well isn't it nice that Kovid puts out his own portable version. Uninstalling any of the official versions has never caused any data loss.

I use portableapps for most everything but calibre. I'm surprised this occurred with one of their apps. I'll keep this in mind in the future if I ever delete a portable that contains critical data. Thanks for the info.
