Hello all,
I'm Amanda and I think I've fallen back in love with reading. I came to acquire a Kindle that my friend no longer wanted and refurbished for me today -- a Kindle 3, I believe; it's grey, has a keyboard, and metal hinges connecting it to the case. I immediately went to Pottermore and purchased the Harry Potter ebook bundle, and have already read half of The Philosopher's Stone in a single sitting -- something I haven't done since high school!
When I was little, I was an avid reader, pulling numerous all-nighters and winning an award for reading over a certain number of the books in the school library. (Curiously, we never were told what that number was.) After high school, though, I moved out, found work, made new friends, started playing violin, learning Japanese, assembling Warhammer Fantasy figurines... My passion for reading just slipped away, until I realised that I wasn't reading any more.
The convenience and the excitement of the Kindle has already drawn me back in; I feel like a ten year old reading Harry Potter for the first time, even though I've already read the first six books! This, therefore, is the inspiration for my username: my Kindle has rekindled my love of books. I'm excited!
So, here I am, hoping to learn all the tips and tricks (such as how to make the creepier screensavers disappear...) for my Kindle, as well as hoping to find some new things to read.
Hugs!
