"Wolfie" is short for "Wolfgang". "Scruffy" isn't short for anything (well, physically he's very short) - he's just the scruffy runabout that the dogs can shake all their sand in - but is just named, with no real connection, after a character in
Futurama.
We've previously had Moe, Scoobs II, Forrest, Scoobs, Bruce, Damien and Effie (and a Celica before that which didn't have a name because the Loved One had bought it before I came on board).
