I have to say that the text does seem to stay a lot sharper now than it did on the glo. On the glo, until the full refresh, the text would be patchy. With the new refresh system on the aura, that does not seem to be the case anymore, the text stays a solid color throughout, which improves the contrast.
Background is still darker, but overall contrast is similar, if not marginally better than it was on the glo.

I do have a couple of very large collections. I just tried deleting them on the device (as Calibre will re-create them anyway on sync.) It does make a difference, but it still takes too long. Without them it seems to take it down to 30 seconds to load the collections list from about a minute, which is nicer to be sure, but it's still something that should just be cached.
