In settings, I deactived "auto off" and "auto standby" in order to only use the Sleepcover function (which definitely worked).
To get rid of the battery drain, I activated "auto off" function and set it to 60 minutes. But every time I set the Kobo to sleep (i.e. by closing the cover) and I open it again the next day, the whole system has shut down. Nothing like that happens in a shorter period of time (i.e. sleep working properly).
So the issue is twofold:
a) sudden battery drain with sleepcover when "auto off" disabled
b) kobo turns off when it should be in standy over a longer period of time with sleepcover and "auto off" enabled
Any ideas / hints?
FW 2.8.1.
Hope the description is kinda useful..

As buffaloseven indicated, the problem of the battery draining too fast, is probably an obstruction to the IR sensors that keeps it awake. Try using the switch, waiting 10 seconds, then closing the cover.
As for the 2nd problem, that is what "auto-off" is supposed to do!! Change auto-off back to never, then set the "auto-sleep" to 60 mins, if that's the time frame you want. Auto-off set to anything other than the "never" setting will shut the whole system down/power off. Even if your kobo is already in sleep mode.
