Welll, it's not a holiday, but on September 20th 1995, MCI Communications Corp, offers $1-billion (U.S.) for SHL Systemhouse Inc, Canada's fifth-largest technology company.
I worked for SHL at the time. It was the start of a long road to irrelevance for SHL which ended up being sold to EDS and then bought by HP. And we all know how well HP is going. Thankfully I work for a different company now.
