That's my entire management strategy. I don't really use either; I only use iTunes to take advantage of the smart playlists feature.
If I want to re-listen to a book, I can download it from the Audible cloud right into the app. I don't mind retrieving them from the cloud when I have a specific title in mind, but I do get tired of having to scroll through books I've already heard to find a new one that I haven't.

That's kind of what I do. I download them into Audible Manager and then move them to iTunes. I have set up smart playlists too, but have mine set up with the comments to be 'read'
