I use the Audible manager to download my files and then I manually move them into iTunes. I listen to the books using Audible by having it look at what I have in iTunes. I have a smart playlist in iTunes that is basically "all audiobooks with 0 plays" so that whenever I finish a book, it automatically deletes itself from the playlist (and my device).

That's my entire management strategy. I don't really use either; I only use iTunes to take advantage of the smart playlists feature.

If I want to re-listen to a book, I can download it from the Audible cloud right into the app. I don't mind retrieving them from the cloud when I have a specific title in mind, but I do get tired of having to scroll through books I've already heard to find a new one that I haven't.
