I'm reading Ireland by Frank Delaney and enjoying it very much. Last month I read Edward Rutherford's Princes of Ireland and Rebels of Ireland. If I enjoy the immersion in a time and place, I hate to leave it behind when the book is done. So I may be on an Irish binge for awhile.
On the same note: next I will read Swing, Swing Together (Sergeant Cribb #7) by Peter Lovesey. After Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K. Jerome and To Say Nothing of the Dog by Connie Willis, I'm not ready to give up boating on the Thames circa 1889.
I also recently read A Traveller in Time by Alison Uttley. The detail concerning the way people lived, ate, and stocked their kitchens in the East Midlands near Derbyshire in both the early 20th century and circa 1560's was interesting. The time travel involved a plot to rescue Mary, Queen of Scots.
Also just finished Open Season (Joe Pickett #1) by C.J. Box and liked it so much that I used the Kobo 50% off coupon to buy the next several in the series.
