, I answered the question based upon the wrong field (that frequently has sort problems).
( Running the Quality Check Plugin (may need to be installed from Get Preferences: Plugins) may reduce the list size to those that need updating:
On the QC PI menu: Check Metadata: Check Title Sort )
On the Bulk Edit Metadata form (Just above the bottom item): Tick 'Update Title Sort'), OK
