This is absurd to the point of satire. It's like saying we should never build escalators because you might have to walk up them if they break down. Or that my building shouldn't have a numeric keypad on the front door because I might have to use a regular key if it malfunctions. May as well leave the door unlocked, right?
You have given only unconvincing reasons why you think the fingerprint scanner will be unattractive. It's not worth pursuing the matter further if you can't justify your irrational pessimism any better than that. We can revisit once the technology is out in the wild.
