I got this info from Kobo earlier. Thanks for the confirmation. If you are a calibre user, it is safe to use with the latest version of calibre after selecting the newer firmware option. This build has been released to the beta test group and I have tested it with calibre. I do have an update for the new way that cover images are handled.

For those who want to know, the cover images are no longer stored in a single directory. They are stored in a two level tree of directories. This removes the problem with to many files in the images directory.
