The local paper has been delivered each day all summer because I fell for a telephone sales spiel which promised a free restaurant coupon. But I tossed the envelope with the coupon assuming it was junk mail. I tried to cancel after realizing that, since I never read it, it is a waste of money, but apparently I agreed to a three-month contract. When the contract is up next week, I'm done. Plus, now I have a resentment even though getting tied in was my own fault. So this is my last newspaper subscription ever.
It's too bad that newspapers are failing because they serve a purpose. Unfortunately, it is a purpose that is no longer immediately useful to me.
