Maids of Misfortune: A Victorian San Francisco Mystery [Cozy Historical Mystery]
M. Louisa Locke
I read this last year and particularly enjoyed the historical detail. It seemed to me to be accurate. I have an 1872 San Francisco directory that I've studied since childhood and have always been fascinated by that era. The author, a history professor, stayed faithful to the era with no modern intrusions.

There is a chaste romance and a mystery that kept my attention, although I no longer remember the details. I guess that I liked it, but didn't particularly love it since I never read the next in the series.
