That sounds terribly disappointing, I'm so glad I haven't ordered yet. I'm also wondering about import duties? After all, the UK ordering page did have asterisks against the price, which then said that taxes may be added.
Maybe Kobo should have taken a leaf out of Apple's book, launch day the same in many countries, and 10 days between announcement and having the device in your hand. From what I've been reading on these forums, Kobo have lost quite a few sales to other makes of ereader, just by giving people so much time to research and read before being able to try and buy.
