If you look at the current Iliad next to a Sony, you'll see that the screen of the Sony has significantly more contrast, no doubt because it's using a later generation e-Ink screen. Since the Iliad is larger, apparently the newer screen wasn't available for it. My question is: does the new Iliad use the newer screen so that it has the same contrast as the Sony/Kindle. It would be nice if it used an even newer screen with even more contrast, but as is suggested above, that apparently isn't available yet. To my mind, the biggest drawback to current e-Ink screens is the gray background.
