You can fix this by editing the book: simply replace "—" by "​—​". What this does is putting zero width spaces between the word and the em-dash. This way, the dictionary lookup works (at least on K3 and KT with KF8 books).
For old mobi7 files better use ‌ instead to also allow line breaks at the em-dash. See
