It might be worth contacting B&N to ask. From the T&C, it says
"Offer only valid for the recipient of this e-mail using a NOOK account associated with the e-mail address above and is not transferable."
but then goes on to say
"In order to take advantage of this offer, customers must have a valid nook.com account with a credit card on file. For those who do not have a nook.com account, please follow the prompts to create an account for free."
Unless they're sending this email out to people who don't have a nook.com account, that really doesn't make sense. I guess you could call and say you got the email, but didn't get the back issues.
