Not even sure what you mean by a 180-degree USB connector.
A screen shot of the unit you were talking about would be nice.
Its also possible its not a standard Kindle power cable.
I use my Kindle regular power cord to charge 2 different Phones, and a camera. (all 4 devices and power cords are interchangable) by using one cord I can stash the others and not worry about keeping track of 4 different chargers
