I've always bought the 3G models and expect I always will; for me, the ability to buy any book I want without worrying about location or wi-fi availability is invaluable. However, I travel a lot. If you're not a big traveller, then I think a wi-fi model would be quite adequate, especially if you live in an area where public transport has wi-fi.
