I am also having a problem where after a few weeks of reading, my last page is not preserved when I go back to the home screen. I can't tell yet if this is due to having library books (possibly... ahem... overdue library books) on the Kindle.

Could just need a restart if you haven't in awhile.
My Kindle survive the upgrade and I love the new dictionary feature. I'm off to buy some dictionaries! (With hubby's money of course)
